Fremont Art Walk - May 2nd - 7-9 PM - Renata Raudys

Stop by the store on Friday, May 2nd, 7-9 PM for our friend's art opening: "Mannequins". Part of the Fremont Art Walk, her work will be on display at the shop for the entire month of May:

FEATURED ARTIST
Renata Raudys of Nataworry Photography www.nataworry.com

Renata's passion for photography surfaced in grade school when she and her friends would do photo shoots in their basements. These days she's passionate about photographing all walks of life, as well as still lifes (i.e., mannequins in particular). She particularly likes capturing these plastic creatures in such a way that makes an observer second guess whether or not they're truly inanimate.

What is Skillet? Two words: bacon jam.

A few people keep asking me, "What is Skillet?", "Why is Sound Speed hip to it?". Well, in short, Skillet is about local food, cooked exceptionally well. For a more detailed look at Skillet, I recommend their interview on KUOW here (43:30 in the audio) - its the best summary I could find.

Sound Speed Written Up in UW Daily Paper

New article in the UW daily paper about the shop! Check it out here.

Skillet Comes To Sound Speed Scooters Every Thursday

Skillet, a gourmet mobile food joint, has recently chosen our shop as their new Fremont location! Every Thursday, they'll be out front from 9am-2pm serving breakfast and lunch. Stop by the store if you're in the area for some tasty treats!

Fremont Art Walk 4/2/2008 - Joel Romeo

We're pleased to include the artwork of Joel Romeo once more for the April Fremont Art Walk. Stop by starting around 7 PM to enjoy our current showing:

Joel Romeo’s impaired hearing and inability to communicate verbally, has given him a unique take on the world around him. His raw style and unpredictable narrative lend itself to a truly unusual art production. Within a variety of mediums Joel creates characters that transcend reality and cartoon-like imagery, while capturing the qualities of his personal experiences with the world in stunning perspective.
